Alisha Corbin won the 3rd Edition of
Ms. CariFin competition which was held on Sunday
March 30, 2006 at Sevilla Golf Course as part of
the CariFin Cross Country & Family Day.
Of the contestants participating she displayed
the kind of confidence which set her apart from
the others and made her look like winner from
the very beginning.
Alisha was fanatically popular on the Day,
supported by the very vociferous – CBTT posse
who placed her on the proverbial pedestal and
adored her with every imaginable form of
compliment and flattery.
As the Queen she even had kneeling subjects who
prostrated themselves on their knees before her,
paying probably the highest tribute and
complement they could think of.
The evening was filled with fun, excitement,
beauty and charm, as the contestants in the Ms.
CariFin did their thing to culminate the day’s
proceedings.
The following is a list of
the prerequisites to be a part of the Ms.

The following is an

CariFin Roaming
Reporter: You seem so sure of yourself from
the start, we saw you smiling, executing every
move from the instructor with a sense of ease
and fluidity. What accounted for that poise you
displayed?
Alisha Corbin: Thank
you kindly! I was having a ball and the Central
Bank posse kept me going. I tried not to think
of the competition but instead decided to have a
good time, no matter what.
CRR: What made you
take part in this competition?
AC: Ms. Leigh Ann
Benjamin! That’s my ‘horse’ at work. She’s one
of the top competitors in CariFin and inspired
me to take the chance.
CRR: Was it your
dream to always enter a competition like this?
AC: I think on
some level, every little girl wants to be a
princess/beauty queen. I don’t really like
competing though and would not have entered the
competition if I hadn’t reached the point where
I try to live life as an exclamation instead of
worrying about the possibility of an unfavorable
outcome.
CRR: In the question
and answer section you seem so unparsed by the
questions… you took a deep breath and answered
so fluently….. What events in your life would
have prepared you for this?
AC: I was very shy
when I came into the Central Bank but Ann Marie
Narine (my boss) pulled me out of the comfort
zone and started asking me my opinion during
very important meetings. I used to cold-sweat
and imagine myself locking her up in a room to
avoid the attention but thank God, it worked to
my benefit.
CRR: Being quite
curious here… what was the question that you
were asked could you remember and what was your
response?
AC: I was asked
about the qualities I look for in a man. Can’t
remember my exact response but spirituality was
on the top of my list. Strength of character,
willingness to compromise and determination to
succeed were among the other qualities.
CRR: How would you
best describe your personality?
AC:
Effervescent.
CRR: What are your
interest/hobbies?
AC: I dance every
time I get the chance – in the bathroom, on the
highway when I’m in traffic, when I’m waiting
for the elevator….. I actually entered the Best
Village Competition with the Footprints Dance
Group this year. The experience was out of this
world. I also sing quite a bit and enjoy
hiking.
CRR: What is your
personal philosophy?
AC: Someone said
“work like you don’t need the money, love like
you’ve never been hurt, and dance like nobody’s
watching”. I try to live by those words.
CRR: As the reigning
“Ms. CariFin 2006” what would like to see happen
in the financial services sector in terms of
health and fitness or sports?
AC: Let me just take
this opportunity to say that the organizers of
CariFin have done a terrific job in terms of
creating awareness. Now to answer your
question, this sector is driven by performance
and profits. So you would find that a lot of
people working in this field are stressed out or
don’t take the time to relax … We need to
find a way of incorporating exercise into our
lifestyle. If I don’t drop everything and take
a jog every now and then, I think I’ll go
crazy.
CRR: Are there any
causes or social issues that you feel strongly
enough about to voice your concern or opinion
about it?
AC: I’d prefer to
stay silent on this one to ensure my chance of
becoming Prime Minister one day isn’t
compromised.
